bio

I am an explorer of parallel reality based in New Zealand. I have explored parallel reality through various creative forms and technology since childhood.

When I first sat in front of a computer with a keyboard and stared at the screen, I wanted it to talk with me. Finally, it does.

After completing a Bachelor of Philosophy and Bachelor of International Relations from the University of Sydney in 2003, I focused on a career in technology before returning to developing an art practice in 2013.

My artistic style is often rooted in philosophical and visual art traditions that focus on metaphysics, existentialism, and speculative realism. These traditions explore the nature of existence, consciousness, and the universe, often questioning the fundamental nature of reality itself.

Visually, this concept can be expressed through abstract, surreal, or conceptual art, which seeks to transcend traditional representations and engage with more profound, often unseen aspects of (para)reality. These forms of art and philosophy challenge the viewer to reconsider their understanding of the world and their place within this simulated parallel reality.

Many of the experiments are light-hearted, comical or absurd. This superficial layer is both essential, a subterfuge, and a substitute for messages from the parallel reality.

From the 2013 spoof documentary of a creative dance genius to the conjunction of silicon and spirits, Jarred constantly seeks ways to simultaneously discombobulate themselves, the audience, and to provide everyone with the escapism their soul craves.
